In John 17:3 we read a life altering statement by Jesus in His High Priestly prayer – “Now this is eternal life, that they may know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” “To know” is more than intellectual assent to a truth. It conveys a level of intimacy that brings about transformation in the life of the person who accepts this truth that Jesus Christ was sent by the Father as Redeemer of humankind (John 3:16). Tom Casey noted: “It is not the amount of activity (or knowledge we have) we conduct on God’s behalf that makes us successful. It is the consistent development of our intimate relationship with Him that is key. Experiencing this consistent, intimate relationship produces the trust, faith and provision necessary for His Kingdom activities to be accomplished, no matter how great or small the task may be.”
