Reading God’s Word is the greatest privilege we have as His Children. It sets apart the “followers of Jesus” from the “Disciples of Jesus”, who love to feed on His Wisdom.
“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Ps. 119:105) “Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.” (Ps. 119:97) “The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.” (Ps. 119:130)
In a time when we face struggles, challenges, loss, confusion, pain, it is only the Word of God than can bring understanding, hope, purpose and comfort. Of course, the source of this is the Living Word – Jesus, but also the Spirit inspired written Word – the Bible.
I want to encourage you not to take God’s Word for granted. Don’t give up reading it, even if it does not make sense at times. Read the whole Bible through, from cover to cover. You will stand amazed at the Sovereign work of God through the history of redemption. Celebrate His presence and power in this hopeless world. He is our source and strength, but we need to eat from His table set for us in His Word! Share His Word with family and friends. Allow His Word to be a light to your feet and a lamp on your path. He is waiting for you and will meet with you as you meditate on His Word.
