Thoughts to ponder …
“… when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” (Luke 18:8b)
These are thought provoking, even disconcerting words from Jesus. They form part of a discourse by Jesus on persistent asking, but asking with an expectation of results. How often we fall short of really trusting Jesus in our lives. I am amazed at how many Christians are absolutely terrified by the Covid-19 pandemic. I am not suggesting we should act unwisely at all, but to allow fear and anxiety to rule our lives places a question on our trust in God’s ability to keep us. Do we truly believe God is Sovereign and that our lives are in His hands? Death should not scare us for we are in Christ, our only hope and redeemer. With Paul we can proclaim “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 15:55-57) May the Lord find faith in our hearts as we entrust ourselves to Him in 2021.
