In the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13) we often judge the condition of the soil – the heart of man. However, have you ever considered what will secure a good harvest? Isn’t it well prepared soil? Only an irresponsible farmer will scatter seed and hope for a harvest! I want to suggest that if we spend more time preparing the soil, the seed (God’s Word) will have fertile soil in which to terminate.
Before we sow (witness) we should take time to prepare the soil by increased prayer before engaging a person; taking time to build sincere and caring relationships; showing unconditional love and acceptance even when rejected; and sharing the good news of the Gospel in a sensitive and relevant way. God’s Word never changes, but how we witness can affect the outcome of the seed sown.
